Antique Georgian Mahogany Campaign Writing Slope (c. 1800–1830)

$445.00

An exceptionally classic early 19th-century British campaign writing slope, capturing the rugged sophistication and refined craftsmanship of the Georgian era.

The exterior features a timeless aesthetic that effortlessly elevates a library, executive desk, or styled vignette. Opening the box reveals a traditional dual-folding writing surface, deep internal storage wells beneath the slope, and dedicated upper compartments equipped with two glass ink bottles.

A quintessential staple for collectors of early British boxwork, campaign furniture, or Dark Academia decor.

It also comes with wonderful provenance confirmed by a hand written inscription on the underside of one of the compartments: Owned by Anne Anderson alias Arklay. From Brechin, Forfarshire, Scotland.

John Arklay (1821–1903) and Anne Anderson were a 19th-century married couple who worked as tenant farmers at Powmill in the rural parish of Farnell, near Brechin, Scotland. Documented in the region's agricultural community as early as 1851, they were later laid to rest together at Inverkeilor Kirkyard in Angus.
