Antique Mother of Pearl Card Case Geometric Inlaid Floral Design C1900
An antique mother-of-pearl card case of rectangular form, constructed from shaped panels arranged in a geometric pattern.
Each panel is finely engraved with floral and foliate motifs, creating a repeating decorative design across the surface. The case opens via a push-button mechanism and retains its internal lining for holding visiting cards.
The engraved decoration and panel construction are typical of late 19th- to early 20th-century examples produced for the export market.
Condition
It is in good condition for its age, with light visible signs of age and usage. One of the triangular panels appears to be a replacement with two small triangles next to the clasp missing on each side. The hinge and clasp are present and functional.
